A Professional History

During my professional career, I was fortunate to serve three major industries; Aerospace, Nuclear Power, and Technology.  I loved working and left the professional world reluctantly.  While I served at almost all levels of management, including executive levels, consulting became my true love.  Below is a history of my work in the professional world.

 

 

SUMMARY

 Experienced and skilled in directing the implementation of large scale Information Systems including MRP, ERP, EAM, CRM, and SCM including E-Business.  Have served as designer and architect for major systems (prior to the availability of large scale COTS systems).

 Possess a solid background and success in sales of both software and implementation/integration services.  Have experience with SAP, Peoplesoft, and Indus’ Passport systems.

 Experienced manager of several diversified operations with a broad background in all aspects of project management including cost, schedule and performance management.  Possess not only the necessary management skills, but have hands-on capabilities for program development and implementation. In a consultive or consultive sales environment, work well with clients generating an air of trust.

 Have directed the design, implementation and management of a wide range of Information Systems for TVA, DOE and DOE contractors, Ontario Hydro, Eldec Corporation, Washington Public Power Supply System Nuclear Plant 2, and Seafab Corporation.

Title: Account Executive

For this SAP Alliance Partner, responsible for developing SAP implementation accounts including E-Business, Mobile Workplace, Supply Chain, CRM, Financials, HR, Product Lifecycle Management and Business Intelligence.  Synergy’s primary industry focus is serving the Aerospace, Defense and related complex manufacturing industries.

 

Informatics Corporation, Richland, WA (Dec 99 - Sept 00)

Title: Managing Principal

For this Energy Industry services company, developed IT capabilities and helped formulate marketing strategies to broaden this company’s offering to the Utility and DOE markets.

 

Indus International Inc. , San Francisco, CA (Mar 96 – Dec 99)

Title: Account Executive

 

For this major Enterprise Asset Management Software firm, worked with customers to analyze their needs through initial planning activities to develop project staffing plans and schedules.  Establish rapport with key client management personnel to assure proper level of client management support.  Develop a team to allow client to successfully solve particular business problems and challenges, including definition of the current business practice, description of the problem/solution, recommendations and alternative solutions, process and system design, implementation assistance, and follow-up support to assure successful implementation of the new systems.

 Responsible for generating revenues for both license fees and implementation services for Indus’ Passport system, a major client/server based ERP systems.  Responsibilities also include providing management oversight, and direction for implementation, integration, and rollout. Primary area of included the Utility Industry and Public Sector.

CONTECH CORPORATION, Forest Grove, OR (1985 -1990)

Title: President (1985 - 87), Board of Directors (1987 - 90)

 After initially serving as president during the start-up of this aerospace electronic firm (1985-87), provided continued support on the company's board. In addition to manufacturing "black-box" harness assemblies for    commercial aircraft, Contech's Compass Division manufactures metal detectors for the consumer market.

 

SEAFAB CORPORATION, Redmond, WA (1983 - 1985)

Title: Operations Vice President

 

Responsible for all operational organizations of this high tech electronics manufacturing company.  Managed the installation of a complete material control system, from receiving through shipping, including a real-time bar-code control system.

 

WNP - 2 NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, Richland, WA (1983)

Title: Independent Consultant

 Major participant in implementation and refinement of project information control system (PICS) for WPPSS WNP-2 nuclear plant. System was used to gain control of over 600,000 components and spare parts and related documentation in ten construction warehouses.  Responsible for equipment identification and document coding.

 

TONE COMMANDER SYSTEMS, INC., Redmond, WA (1979 - 1982)

Title: Manufacturing Engineering Manager (1979,80)

Division Director  (1981,82)

 As Division Director, responsible for managing all division activities, including QA, production and material control and production tests. Directed the implementation of a computer-based, Work-in-Process and inventory control system.

 

ELDEC CORPORATION, Everett, WA (1977 - 1979)

Title: Materials Manager

 Directed the implementation Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) system for this aerospace manufacturing firm.  Responsible for a full range of material functions including establishing master and detailed shop schedules, identifying material requirements, and maintaining floor control.   

 

ROCKWELL, HANFORD, Richland, WA (1975 - 1977)

Title: Manager, Program Schedules and Analysis (1975,76)

 Manager, Budgets and Control (1977)

 

As Manager, Program Schedules and Analysis, responsible for preparation and maintenance of schedules for the nuclear waste management site at Hanford.  As Manager, Budgets and Control, responsible for establishing WBS cost/schedule baselines.  Implemented performance measurement system for all site activities.

 

GENERAL ATOMIC COMPANY, San Diego, CA (1975)

Title: Project Manager

 Established and administered programs to verify steam generator and core auxiliary heat exchange designs and components under simulated reactor conditions.

 

THIOKOL CORPORATION, Brigham City, UT (1972 - 1974)

Title: Supervisor, Manufacturing Systems

 Designed and implemented computer applications for administrative control, planning, manufacturing control.  Designed first planning and resource loading system utilizing new (at that time) IBM DBMS techniques to be certified to DOD Spec 7002 for  configuration control.

DETAILS OF CONSULTING ENGAGEMENTS

 

 

MACTEC, Richland, Wa. (Mar 93 – Mar 96)

Title: Senior Program Manager

Department of Energy, Hanford, Wa - Implemented a performance measurement program utilizing project management methods to manage Human Resources overhead and support activities.  Utilized Activity Based Management techniques to facilitate extensive process reengineering.  Facilitated and provided scheduling guidance for the implementation of PeopleSoft within the Human Resources Division.

 

UNITED ENERGY SERVICES CORPORATION, Marietta, Ga. (Jan 91 - Jan 93)

Title: Project Control Manager

                Westinghouse Savannah River Company - For this  Department of Energy contractor, assessed this company's Issues Management Program and prepared program upgrade planning.                      

Ontario Hydro - In support of this utility's  Configuration Management Pilot Project, established the project's baseline budgets and schedules.  Designed and established this major projects' schedule, cost, and performance reporting system.

Tennessee Valley Authority - For TVA's Brown's Ferry Nuclear Power Generating Station, developed, implemented, Unit 3's Operations Project Control System for plant restart and managed the Project Control Organization.

For TVA's Colbert Steam Plant, designed this fossil plant's outage management system and managed the Project Control Organization.

 

 

MACTEC, San Diego, Ca. (Oct 87 - Nov 90)

Title: Senior Consultant

Department of Energy, Yucca Mt., Nevada - Assessed this DOE Field Office's administrative policies and procedures and conducted Procedure Walk Downs to verify organizational compliance with established procedures.

Peachbottom Nuclear Power Generating Station - In   support of plant restart, reviewed and assessed this plants emergency preparedness program.  Established action plan to bring program into compliance and supervised implementation.

Philadelphia Electric Company, Nuclear Group - Established with Support Group management, organizational missions, goals, and objectives in   preparation for corporate policies and procedures.  Prepared a management assessment and action plan for Philadelphia Electric's corporate EP policies and programs.  

Limerick Nuclear Power Generating Station - Reviewed and assessed this plants emergency response system and supervised improvements.

Department of Energy, Idaho Falls, Idaho - Prepared and provided reviews, assessments and updates for Project Management Plans and other project documents.  Projects included Cask System Development Program (CSOP), Environment Restoration (ER), High Level Waste (HLW), and Low Level Waste (LLW).

Department of Energy, Hanford, WA - Determined Project Management System requirements as defined by DOE orders, consistent with NRC licensing requirements.  Prepared top-level project documents, including Project Management Plan, Configuration Management Plan, and Material Management Plan.  Coordinated development of sub-tier project documents and procedures.  Assisted site personnel in setting up and integrating control systems for a Major Systems Acquisition (MSA) consistent with DOE 4700.1.
