Since retirement, I've been able to turn my attention to some
long neglected interests.
 |
I've been spending more time with my guitars. While I'll
never be a 'real' guitar player, There's not a campfire gathering that's not
safe from Guitar Dad's rousing campfire songs. |

Writing has long been an interest. During the past
couple of years, I've been writing 'the great American novel'. It's a
tale that I've been thinking about for about ten years. If I can
finish this, there are a couple of more stories I want to tell. |
 |
Karin and I have gotten more interested in genealogy ...
more specifically McCoy family history and Thorsby family history. The
McCoy family history has been well researched, but needs a lot more
work. Because the Thorsby family has recently immigrated from Norway
and the history is more difficult to research, Karin and I have been
focusing on Thorsby family history. |

My Music
My music runs from Old-Time rock and roll to Blues and
ballads.
Currently I have three guitars:
 |
Gibson, Les Paul |
 |
Yamaha electric (Telecaster style) |
 |
Aspen acoustic |
The electric guitars are driven through one of a couple
of Amps:
 |
Crate practice Amp |
 |
Fender Princeton Chores |

My Writing
I'm currently working on a novel. It's a
historical novel that takes place in the 1800's and tracks the life of
man who matures during the formative years of the American West.
I've researched heavily for this novel and I hope that the historical
accuracy will create a tale that not only creates compelling characters
but is set in interesting locals.
The story currently has about 40,000 words and is
about two thirds complete.
I might post a selection form the story here in the
future.
I've got two other stories in the wings if I can
finish this first one. |
